Electronic Waste Recycling Reminder
As a reminder, beginning January 1, 2012, residents will no longer be able to dispose of electronics by throwing them away. The Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act mandates the recycling of electronics including: tvs, monitors, printers, computers, keyboards, DVD players, video game consoles, etc. A complete list of items banned from landfills is available on the IEPA web site. Electronics can be recycled in the following ways:
• The Will County Land Use Department partnered with Vintage Tech Recyclers to accept its electronic recyclables. This is the first free household pickup service offered in Illinois. Residents can schedule a pickup of unwanted electronics by contacting Vintage Tech Recyclers at 866-631-1707. There is a limit of 10 items per service call.
• Electronics can also be dropped off at the Wheatland Township Administrative Offices, 31 W 236 91st Street, Naperville between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday; the Village of Romeoville drop-off site at 195 S. Budler Road, Romeoville (East of I-55) between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm on Wednesdays and also the first Saturday of the month between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm; and the Troy Township Highway Department, 25358 Seil Road, Shorewood (West of River Road) between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
