Mather PrairieWe meet on a regular basis to discuss conservation issues and plan events/projects to increase environmental awareness. Interested in meeting us? We meet the third Wednesday of the month. Check back to our website for the meeting location and time. 

Next Meeting: Wednesday, April 16, 7:00 pm at the Plainfield Public Library.  This is our Spring General Membership meeting where directors and officers are nominated and elected, and the budget is reviewed and approved. 

Plainfield Township presents "Vegetable Gardening in Containers on Wednesday, April 23rd from 6:30-7:30. Bring any gardening questions you have, Nancy will educate aand entertain you. Conservation Plainfield is partnering with The Conservation Foundation to assist with consultation services and certifications of The Foundation's Conservation @ Home Program in Plainfield, as well as providing additional events, programming and projects throughout the year. See the attached Letter of Intent for more information on this partnership.

Spring Environmental Expo

Saturday, May 3, 2014, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: Plainfield Central High School Field House

This a FREE event hosted by Conservation Plainfield and the Plainfield Central High School Bio-Explorations Club that includes exhibitors with educational displays, demonstrations of sustainable products and practices, sales of “green” products and services, and fun entertainment for all ages.

Some of the activities planned for the day include:

  • Presentations
  • Electronics Recycling Drop-off provided by New Life Electronics Recycling, Inc. (for a list of items that will be accepted, download the attachment below).
  • Empty Ink and Toner Cartridge Recycling Drop-off provided by Cartridge World, 4722 Caton Farm Road, Plainfield.
  • Batteries and CFL (compact fluorescent light) Bulbs Recycling Drop-off. Please be sure to tape both ends of the batteries prior to dropping them off.
  • Working Bikes will be accepting bicycle donations. The bikes do not have to be in working condition.
  • Face Painting, Rain Barrel Painting and Make a Craft to Take Home provided by Plainfield East High School Art Students.
  • Henna Painting provided by Meha’s Henna Painting.
  • Learn how and try to upcycle plastic bags into sleeping mats provided by New Life for Old Bags.
  • Rain Barrel Sales provided by Conservation Plainfield (for more information on Conservation Plainfield’s Rain Barrel Program and to place an order, download the attachments below). Rain Barrels are also available from The Conservation Foundation. Stop by their booth to learn more.
  • Native Plant Sale provided by CARDNO JFNew and The Riverfront Foundation.
  • Raffling off of Gift Baskets and a Rain Barrel
  • Stop by Conservation Plainfield’s welcome booth and get one free raffle ticket.
  • Those that buy a 50/50 raffle ticket will get a chance to spin the Environmental Knowledge Wheel for a chance at winning an extra raffle ticket.
  • Those that join Conservation Plainfield as an individual member will get three extra raffle tickets, and those that join as a family member will get five extra raffle tickets.
  • All items will be raffled off at 2:00. Winners will be posted at the Conservation Plainfield welcome booth. Winners need not be present.
