About Us

Our organization began in 2001, with a vision of an intergovernmental cooperative for the purposes of environmental education first proposed by Paul Fay.

After representatives from: Plainfield Township, Park District, School District 202, Plainfield Library, and the Village met to brainstorm about the mission of this group, "Habitat Plainfield" was formed.  In the summer of 2002 we held our first programs which included a summer school course for high school students and an environmental roundtable.  Both of these activities continue to this day.

Now named "Conservation Plainfield", our group is well organized and focused on our purpose, to raise awareness of our natural environment in this community and educate our residents on the necessities of better conservation.

Conservation Plainfield is a state registered 501c3 charitable organization.  We are organized with a President and Board of Officers.  In addition to our government agency representatives, we welcome members of the community to join us!
