Staff from Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie located in Wilmington, IL will be conducting a tour on behalf of Conservation Plainfield. The driven tour will be led by Midewin staff with participants following in personal vehicles. The tour will include a full overview of the largest tallgrass prairie east of the Mississippi River and a rich history of its evolution.

 

Transportation from Plainfield to Midewin is available on a limited basis. Participants that utilize this service are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Plainfield Park District’s Recreation/Administration, 23729 W. Ottawa Street, at 8:00 a.m. Others that drive to Midewin are asked to meet no later than 8:45 a.m. at the Midewin Welcome Center located at 30239 South State Route 53, Wilmington, Illinois. Pre-registration is required and will be taken until Friday, July 16.
